Document Orthanc behavior for private DICOM headers: support, indexing, and configuration steps required to allow unsupported tags
Orthanc implements a very stringent set of DICOM headers and has only limited support for private tags. Because many processes involving medical imaging data use these tags, it's very important to understand how Orthanc treats their values and that there be accurate coverage in the Sonador documentation.
Questions that the docs need to address:
-
What private tags does Orthanc support out of the box? -
What does Orthanc do when indexing private tags? -
What happens when you attempt to modify Orthanc resources using private tags outside of its supported set? -
How do you extend the private tags Orthanc supports? -
What are the performance considerations of using private tags? How is the data added to the Orthanc search index and to the raw data?
